Host Transylvania University, the second place team in the HCAC, won two out of three doubles matches today to narrowly clip the Lions, 5-4, in the Mount's season-ending match. The Lions conclude the season with an 8-6 overall mark, 4-5 in the HCAC. A Mount win would have propelled the Lions into the upcoming six-team HCAC Tournament.
Sandy Berry (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) continued his unbeaten first singles season for the Mount, claiming a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over his Pioneers' opponent. Clayton Steinriede (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) posted wins at both third singles, and at second doubles, teaming with Colin Barrett (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) on an 8-6 victory. Kyle Haas (Jasper, IN/Northeast Dubois) recorded the Lions other win, turning in a victory in a three-set match at sixth singles.
Berry finished the season with a 13-0 mark at first singles.
