The Mount's men's tennis team kicked off the spring portion of their 2012-2013 schedule on Friday evening, dropping a 6-3 decision at HCAC-rival Franklin College. The Mount, 1-3 overall this season, and 0-1 in the conference, returns to action on March 24 when they host Thomas More College.
Franklin College won all three doubles matches against the Lions, as the Mount' number one tandem of Clayton Steinriede (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) and Colin Barrett (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) fell by an 8-5 score. The Mount claimed three singles wins out of six matches against the Grizzlies, with Steinriede winning on a third set tie-breaker. Kyle Haas (Jasper IN/Northeast Dubois) won his match at fifth singles, on a third set tie-breaker; and teammate John Knoll (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) won at sixth singles.
Steinriede is now 3-1 in singles on the season.
