Visiting Defiance College captured all five singles matches, and two of three doubles matches on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the Mount's men's tennis team, 8-1. The Lions, 2-4 this season, 0-2 in the HCAC, is scheduled to resume action on March 31 when they host Thomas More College.
The Mount's third double team of Kyle Haas (Jasper, IN/Northeast Dubois) and Cooper Wade (Milan, IN/Milan) posted the Lions only win on the day against the Yellow Jackets, claiming an 8-6 win. Haas also played in his third singles match, falling in three sets, while teamate and second singles player Ian Rowe (Winchester, KY/George Rogers Clark) also suffered a loss in three sets.
The Lions' first doubles team won six games in their match, while first singles player William Knoll (Cincinnat, OH/Turpin) recorded six wins in his straight set loss.
