HANOVER, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph women's soccer team traveled west to take on the Panthers of Hanover College in their regular season finale on Wednesday. The Lions and Panthers came into the match tied atop the HCAC standings with matching 7-0-1 records. In the winner-take-all match the Lions took down the Panthers 1-0, clinching the regular season Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and the top seed in the HCAC Tournament.
The Lions got their lone goal from standout freshman McKenzie Schneeman, who leads the Lions with 10 goals this season. The goal came in the 14th minute off an outstanding pass from
Haley Trittschuh.
Defensively the Lions continued their outstanding play, finishing the regular season allowing only a single goal during HCAC play. Goalkeeper
Madison Hart posted finishes the regular season not allowing a single goal in an HCAC contest. The junior has posted six clean sheets in her six starts in HCAC matches this season.
Often the unsung heroes the Lions back line was fantastic in this game as they have been all season long.

Vivian Willis handled back line duties for Coach Gallagher for all 90 minutes, holding up against the constant pressure from the Panthers.
With the win the Lions are the number one seed in the HCAC Tournament and will wait for the winner of the match between the 4th and 5th seeds. Their next match will take place on Nov. 3rd at Schueler Field, kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
