LEXINGTON, Ky. - On Sunday, March 28th your Mount St. Joseph Lions traveled to Transylvania University to take on the Pioneers. The Lions fell 2-0 in the matchup and made a late run in the second half but couldn't find the net.
To begin the first half the Lions defense held strong with three big saves by keeper
Maddie Muterspaw (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown). But, in the 38th minute the Pioneers were able to find the net making the score 1-0. The Mount would respond with a pair of shots but nothing to show for it.
The second half began with each team trading shots in the 51st minute but neither found the net. Again
Maddie Muterspaw made three more saves before giving up the Pioneers second goal of the contest in the 63rd minute. The Lions would respond with 5 shots on target from 4 different players, but all were saved by the Transylvania keeper. After 90 minutes the scoresheet read 2-0 in the Pioneers favor.
