Lions fall on the road at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio - On Tuesday, September 21st your Mount St. Joseph Lions traveled to the campus of Ohio Wesleyan to take on the Battling Bishops. The Lions held up well defensively but could not put the ball into the net as Ohio Wesleyan came out victorious 1-0.

In the first half the Battling Bishops flooded the net with shots. They ended up with 7 shots total in the half, 2 on target both saved by Madison Hart (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East). The Lions offense struggled to find their footing and registered just one shot from Molly Sheridan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) which was saved by the Bishops keeper Taylor Floyd.

To begin the 2nd half Madison Hart was tested early with a pair of key saves in the first 5 minutes keeping the score even. It wasn't until the 75th minute of play when the tie would be broken. Ohio Wesleyan's Makayla Watkins would send a shot to the right side of the net from about 20 yards out to break the tie giving the Battling Bishops a 1-0 advantage. After a pair of key saves from Hart and another shot on goal from Sheridan the Lions were unable to equalize. Madison Hart had a great game in goal despite getting the loss earning 8 saves on 9 shots on target.
