DEFIANCE, Ohio - On Saturday, October 27th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Defiance College to take on the Yellow Jackets for the regular season finale. The Lions wasted no time scoring 6 first half goals by 5 different players. In the second half the Lions would just push 1 goal across but it would be Senior goalkeeper, Madison Hart's first career goal in her last career regular season game. The Lions defense was impressive not allowing a single shot while the Lions offense racked up 36 shots, 21 on target.
In the first half, Kerigan Pollard got the scoring started for the Lions. In just the 10th minute Pollard got possession of the ball in the box off a failed clear. She dribbled, and then snuck the ball just past the keeper to the bottom right corner giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Lions added to their lead just 2 minutes later. This time it was Sophomore McKenzie Schneeman scoring off a beautiful cross from Alexa Simpson.
The Lions continued to push offensively scoring their 3rd goal in the 13th minute. Kerigan Pollard netted her 2nd goal in 3 minutes off another assist from Alexa Simpson giving The Mount a 3-0 lead. Paige Adams continued to build the Lions lead again in the 19th minute. Adams fired from just outside the box and tucked the ball into the top left corner extending The Mount's lead to 4-0. The Lions would push 2 more goal across in the half from Catherine Hatfield and Paige Adams. In the 28th minute Hatfield off a beautiful pass from McKenzie Schneeman, hammered a shot to the top left corner of the net flying past the keeper's glove giving the Lions a 5-0 lead. Adams would push across her 2nd goal in the 38th minute. Adams cleaned up a failed clear with a shot to the bottom left corner which flew past the goalkeeper and into the net for the Lions 6th goal of the half.
After halftime, the Lions slowed down their offensive push. But, goalkeeper Madison Hart would get her chance in the field and make the most of it. In the 86th minute Freshman Delanie Simpkins would gain possession in the box. Simpkins would fake right and tap a pass to the left over to Hart with a clear shot at the net. Hart sent a shot to the bottom left corner sneaking past the goalkeeper for her first career goal! After 90 minutes of play, the Lions claimed victory in their final regular season game defeating Defiance 7-0.

This Lions currently hold the #4 seed while Transylvania holds the #5 seed. Kick-off is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
