MSJ Lions Beat Ravens 1-0 with 2nd Half Goal from Kerigan Pollard

ANDERSON, Indiana – On Saturday, October 14th, your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Indiana to take on the Anderson University Ravens in their 6th match of the conference season. Your Lions held the Ravens to a shutout allowing only two shots throughout the game, none of which were on frame. In the second half, Kerigan Pollard broke the scoreless match with only 13 minutes left to go making it a 1-0 game. This win makes the Lions 6-0 in the HCAC going into their next match against Hanover.

In the first half of play, the Lions were not able to find the back of the net, but they dominated both offensively and defensively. In terms of shots, the Lions got off 9 compared to the Raven's one shot. Freshmen defender, Lindsey Bevak started off the shot taking in the first 5 minutes of play with an attempt off a corner kick that was not able to find the back of the net. Defensively, Molly Sheridan, Vivian Willis, and Lindsey Bevak were able to shut the Ravens down even though they were coming in hot from an 8-0 win against another HCAC team.

In the second half, the Mount once against started off with high pressure offensively taking 4 shots within the first 10 minutes. Shots came from Alondra Sotelo, Abby Cole, and Paige Adams within that short time frame. Shortly after, Layla Youtsler found the ball at midfield, passing it to Ella Pittman who split two defenders slipping the ball forward to Kerigan Pollard on the left side outside the 18. Pollard took on her defender, dribbled into the box, and fired the ball right past the goalie for a 1-0 win for your Lions.
