Lions Dominate Berea 2-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team defeated Berea College 2-0 at Schueler Field Wednesday evening.

From the opening whistle to the final one, the Lions dominated the contest. In the 12th minute, Elizabeth Birri headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner-kick pass from Mary Anhofer. The Lions continued to apply offensive pressure but went into halftime leading 1-0.

In the second half, the Lions came out strong, with Elizabeth Birri scoring her second header goal off another corner kick from Mary Anhofer. The Mount took a 2-0 lead, and that score would hold as the final. The Lions recorded 17 shots, 11 of which were on target. The Lions' defense was outstanding, allowing only one shot the entire match. Mount goalkeeper Megan Kallmeyer was excellent, helping the Lions secure the shutout victory. With the Mount's win and an Anderson loss, the Lions have taken sole possession of first place with two matches remaining.
