Lions Rally Late to Earn 2-2 Draw at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team showed resilience on Wednesday evening, storming back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2–2 draw against Wittenberg University.

The Lions endured a challenging opening stretch, as Wittenberg struck twice in the first 12 minutes. The Tigers grabbed the lead in the 5th minute through Sarah Deaton, and doubled their advantage in the 12th minute when Abby Borland found the back of the net.

Despite the slow start, MSJ refused to fold. After regrouping at halftime, the Lions came out with renewed energy and cut the deficit in the 57th minute. Junior Mary Anhofer finished off a setup from Rikkie Chase, pulling the Lions within one.

Mount St. Joseph continued to press forward, and with just over a minute left in regulation, the equalizer came. Sophomore Kendal Fox capitalized on a pass from Lindsey Bevak, calmly slotting home the game-tying goal in the 89th minute to complete the comeback.

Statistically, Wittenberg outshot MSJ 14–7, but junior goalkeeper Megan Kallmeyer was a steady presence in net, recording six saves to keep the Lions within striking distance. Helping in front of Kallmeyer, were a trio of defenders led by McKinzie Dotson who played all 90 minutes. Khloe Young played 87 minutes at centerback, and in the second half they were joined by Rachel Ginn!
