CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team won 2-1 against Marietta College on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers came out strong, scoring in the 16th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. However, the Lions responded quickly in the 20th minute when Rachel Ginn found the back of the net off an assist by Mary Anhofer. Despite Marietta's early goal, the Mount went into halftime tied 1-1.
The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams creating opportunities to take the lead. In the 74th minute, Gabrielle Eagan sent a cross into the Marietta box, where Rikkie Chase was there to head the ball into the right corner of the net. The Lions took a 2-1 lead and held on for the final 16 minutes, securing the victory.
