Lions Fall 1-0 at Rose-Hulman in First HCAC Loss

TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA — The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team suffered its first HCAC loss of the season, falling 1-0 on the road to Rose-Hulman at Rose-Hulman Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon. The loss moves the Lions to 6-3-2 overall and 3-1 in HCAC play.

The Lions had two scoring opportunities in the first 20 minutes, as Mary Anhofer and Kendal Fox each recorded shots on goal that were saved by the Fightin' Engineers' goalkeeper.The Mount also had a goal called back within the first ten minutes of the match due to an offside call that was questionable.The Lions also recorded seven corner kicks in the first half, compared to Rose-Hulman's one. Mount goalkeeper Megan Kallmeyer made two saves to keep the game scoreless, including one with less than five minutes remaining in the half, sending both teams into halftime tied 0-0.

In the 69th minute, the Fightin' Engineers scored to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions looked to respond with shots from Kendal Fox, Rikkie Chase, Mary Anhofer, and Makayla Raynor, along with four corner kicks in the second half, but they could not find the back of the net. Kallmeyer added two saves in the second half to keep the Mount within reach, but the Lions ultimately fell 1-0. This marks the Mount's first HCAC loss since October 18, 2023, when the Lions fell to Hanover College.

UP NEXT: The Mount will host Hanover College at Schueler Field on Wednesday, October 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
