Seniors Ashley Maynard (Milford, OH/Milford) and Jessica Smith (Lebanon, OH/Lebanon) each scored first half goals as the Mount rolled to a 3-1 win over Defiance College on Senior Day. The Lions, 7-7-2 overall, and 6-1 in the HCAC (1/2 game lead in first place), will resume action on Oct. 27 when they host HCAC-foe Tranysylvania University.
Maynard and Smith scored just four minutes apart late in the first half to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. Alyssa Seiler (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) scored the Lions third goal in the 54th minute of play on an assist from Jessica Pykosz (Milford, OH/Milford).
The Mount out-shot Defiance, 22-6 in the game, and 9-5 in shots on goal.
