Alyssa Seiler (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) scored a goal off an assist from Macie Smith (Springboro, OH/Springboro), just 9:22 into the game, and the Lions defense made it stand up as the Mount won at home over Bluffton University, 1-0. The game was the season opener in the HCAC for both teams.
The win over the Beavers ended a Mount two-game losing streak, in which they were shutout twice by 4-0 scores. The Lions out-shot Bluffton, 14-7 as Shelbi Benzinger (Covington, KY/Scott) claimed her second shutout of the season and recorded four saves.
The Mount is back in action on Sept. 29 when they play at cross-river rival Thomas More College.
