Brittany Bowman (Hamilton, OH/Ross)Â and Macie Smith (Springboro, OH/Springboro) each scored goals today as the Mount defeated host Marietta College, 2-0, in the Consolation game of the Marietta College Tournament.
Bowman scored in the third minute of the game to give the Lions a 1-0 lead while Smith added a score, her first collegiate goal, with just under seven minutes to play in the game. Jessica Smith (Lebanon, OH/Lebanon)Â had an assist on Bowman's goal, while Shelbi Benzinger (Covingto, KY/Scott) had five saves as she posted the shutout.
On Saturday, the Lions fell to Adrian College, 3-0, in the opening game of the Tournament. Paige Apel (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) had 10 saves in goal for the Mount. The Mount is back in action on Sept. 8 when they host Wilmington College at 7 p.m.
