Mount men's basketball suffers road loss to HCAC co-leader Anderson University, 81-58

Anderson University parlayed a scoring spree from the early part of the first half into a double-digit lead at the intermission today as they went on to a 81-58 home win over the Lions. The Mount, 3-14 overall, 1-9 in the HCAC, will resume action on Jan. 26 when they host Bluffton University.

The Mount and the Ravens played close early in the first half until Anderson rolled off a 19-4 run to grab a 35-19 lead with 6:27 showing on the clock. Anderson would hold a 44-33 advantage at intermission. The home team out-shot the Lions, 45 to 39 percent from the field in the first half, as they cashed in on nine Mount turnovers scoring 14 points.

The Lions could never get the deficit any closer, as Anderson shot 56 percent from the field in the second half, including making six-of-11 from three point range. The Mount missed all eight of their three-point attempts in the second half. Anderson out-rebounded the Lions, 43-25.

Matt Wester (Dayton, OH/Dayton Christian) led three Mount players in double figures, scoring 15 points. Ben Haarman (Cincinnati, OH/St. Bernard) added 12 points and a team-high five assists while Jordan Brown (Kettering, OH/Kettering Alter) chipped in 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
