Mount senior Andrea Caldwell (Cincinnati, OH/Purcell Marian) converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute of play today as the Lions went on to post a 1-0 home win over HCAC-rival Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Mount, 2-8-1 overall, 1-1 in the HCAC, is idle until Oct. 8 when they host Earlham College in conference action.
The two teams each had 11 shots in the game, while the Lions held an 11-9 shots on goal advantage. Caldwell's goal was her team-high third of the season, as the Mount snapped a five-game losing streak. Madison Freeman (Wilder, KY/Newport Central Catholic) and Shelbi Benzinger (Covington, KY/Scott) combined in goal to record seven saves and post the shutout.
