Lions' men's soccer squad posts 3-2 win at Hanover College

Jake Nelson (Batavia, OH/Batavia) scored the go-ahead goal with just over two minutes remaining tonight, and the Lions went on to post a 3-2 win at HCAC-foe Hanover College. The Mount, 4-9 overall, 2-2 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Oct. 15 when they host a conference game against Anderson University.

Hanover jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, before the Lions answered back. Christopher Corbett (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) scored in the 59th minute of play to cut the deficit to 2-1 and Shayne Bateman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) knotted the score at two-all with 79:22 expired in the game. Nelson scored his first goal of the season to put the team ahead when he scored off a pass from Timothy Pope (Cincinnati, OH/Elder). Corbett also picked up an assist on Nelson's goal.

Tyler Kenyon (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) picked up the win in goal, playing all 90 minutes and recording a save. The Mount out-shot the Panthers, 19-5, including 13-3 in shots on goal.
