Lee Rogers (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) blasted in a penalty kick shot late in the second overtime of play today as the Mount improved to 5-2 in the HCAC with a 3-2 double overtime win at Defiance College. The Mount, 7-9 overall, is back in action on Oct. 26 at Transylvania University. The Lions are currently in third place in the HCAC, trailing only Transylvania (6-0-1) and Rose-Hulman (5-1) in the conference standings.
The Mount jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second half, after goals by Timothy Pope (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) and Christopher Corbett (Cincinnati, OH/Elder). Defiance cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 71st minute of play and then knotted the score at two-all when they tallied a goal in the 75th minute of action.
Both teams had 21 shots in the game, with Defiance holding a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal. Tyler Kenyon (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) had 10 saves in the game, as he played the entire 109:20 in goal for the Lions.
