Mount volleyball team keeps pace in HCAC race

The College of Mount St. Joseph upped its conference mark to 4-1 today with a 25-15, 18-25, 25-15, 25-17 win at HCAC-foe Defiance College. The Mount, 8-13 overall, sits in second place in the HCAC behind Transylvania (3-0), and ahead of three other teams that are each 3-1. The Lions are back in action on Oct. 15 when they host an HCAC match against Anderson University.

The Lions turned in their best team hitting percentage of the season, as they recorded a .248 hitting percentage, connecting on 55 kills. Kat Roedig (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) led the Mount with 14 kills while teammates Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) and Nicole Sherpensky (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) chipped in 12 kills each. Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) had 48 assists while Sarah Scheid (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy) and Sherpensky added three blocks each. Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had 19 digs.
