Mount volleyball team splits first two matches at the OAC/HCAC Challenge

The Lions began play at the Ohio Northern University OAC/HCAC Challenge today, losing to Capital University, 3-0, but bounced back to post a five-set match win over Muskingum University. The Mount, 4-11 this season, will resume action at the Challenge on Sept. 24 when they take on host ONU and then play Baldwin-Wallace College.

Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) had 12 kills and eight digs while teammate Kat Roedig (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) added 11 kills against Capital. Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) added 33 assists while Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) chipped in 18 digs.

The Mount dropped the first two sets to Muskingum, but rebounded to wins the final three sets, including the fifth set, 15-7. Roedig (15), Ritter (12) and Dana Hirschbuelher (Davenport, IA/Davenport West), (11), all had double-figure kill totals while Ritter chipped in 19 digs. Whitmore added 37 assists and 12 digs while Stenger had a team-high 25 digs.
