Mount women's volleyball splits final two matches at the University of Mount Union Invitational

The Lions dropped a four-set match to Case Western Reserve University, 22-25, 12-25, 26-24, 21-25 but bounced back to claim their first win of the 2011 season, posting a 25-18, 17-25, 25-12, 25-23 victory over St. Mary's (IN) College in the final day of play in the University of Mount Union Invitational. The Mount, 1-3 overall this season, will play next on Sept. 6 at Thomas More College.

Bethani Ritter (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) led the way against Case Western Reserve, recording 13 kills while teammate Torrie Whitmore (Mason, OH/Mason) recorded 22 assists. Jaclyn Stenger (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had 16 digs in the match while Michelle Woods (Ft. Wright, KY/Newport Central Catholic) recorded three service aces. The Lions had 48 kills in the match.

Kat Roedig (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) had 15 kills, and Dana Hirschbuehler (Davenport, IA/Davenport West) totaled 12 kills in the team's win over St. Mary's. Whitmore added 24 assists while Stenger chipped in 20 digs. The Mount had nine service aces as a team.
