Host Hanover College shot a blistering 64 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Lions by a two to one margin as they posted a 67-46 win over the Mount. The Lions, 6-6 overall, 2-3 in the HCAC, will return to HCAC action on Jan. 7 when they play at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
After close play throughout most of the first half, the Panthers overcame a three point Mount lead at the 7:38 mark of the opening half by going on a 17-4 run to close the half and lead at the intermission, 37-25. They were particularly effective down the stretch from behind the three-point arc, finishing the first half connecting on 62 percent of their field goal attempts, including six-of-14 from three-point range. Hanover maintained its double-digit lead throughout the second half, as they continued to hit their shots at a high rate, making 10-of-15 second half shots. They also had the advantage on the boards, 26-13, and made 13-of-20 free throws to the Lions' three-of-five from the charity stripe in the game. The Lions shot 45 percent from the field.
David Mann (Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati Christian) led the Mount with 14 points while Alex Cole (Fairfield, OH/Ross) added 13 points off the bench. VJ Evans (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julinenne) had 10 points while David Lane (Hamilton, OH/Ross) chipped in six assists.
