Lions' women's soccer team claims 1-0 win at Hanover College

Box Score

Freshman Kayla Eiben (Erlanger, KY/Dixie Heights) scored the game's lone goal in the 66th minute of play, and senior goalkeeper Shelbi Benzinger (Covington, KY/Scott) made five saves, as the Lions posted a 1-0 win on Wednesday afternoon at HCAC-foe Hanover College. The Lions, 1-12-1 overall, 1-3-1 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Oct. 19 when they host a conference game against Anderson University.

Eiben scored her first collegiate goal at the 65:16 mark of the game, while Benzinger faced numerous shots down the stretch, as the Mount held on for their first win of the 2012 season. The Lions were out-shot 17-7 in the game, but just 5-3 in shots on goal. Hanover held a 3-0 lead in corner kicks.

The shutout for Benzinger was the 13th in her career, moving her into second place on the Mount's all-time list. She is the school's all-time leader in games played in goal, and in saves.
