Visiting Transylvania University scored a goal midway through the first half tonight, and made it stand up as they clipped the Lions in women's soccer action on Senior Night, 1-0. The Mount, 2-13-1 overall, 2-4-1 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Oct. 27 when they play at conference-foe Earlham College.
The Pioneers out-shot the Lions, 14-8, including 9-3 in shots on goal in the game, while holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Shelbi Benzinger (Covington, KY/Scott) played well in the net for the Mount, recording eight saves and stopping numerous Transy breakaways.
Benzinger, along with fellow classmates Jenna Shull (Springfield, OH/Northeastern), Brittany Bowman (Hamilton, OH/Ross), Kayla Cornette (Georgetown, OH/Georgetown), Ann Marie Middendorf (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), and Jessica Pykosz (Milford, OH/Milford), were honored at halftime for Senior Night.
