Visiting Anderson University converted 18-of-23 second half free throws, grabbing a late second half lead and holding off the Mount on Senior Day, winning, 63-59. The Lions finish the season with a 7-18 overall mark, 3-15 in the HCAC.
Anderson held a 31-30 lead at the intermission, as they out-shot the Lions 57 to 48 percent from the field in the opening half. The lead changed hands four times, and the Ravens held a 10-point lead at one point, 31-21 with 3:55 to play, before a late Mount run cut the deficit to just one at break.
The lead in the game would bounce back-and-forth throughout the second half, and after seven second half ties (and nine ties in all), Anderson continued their accurate free throw shooting to pull out the win. The Ravens went eight-of-10 from the free throw line in the final 1:53 of the game, while the Mount made two baskets over the same time span. The Mount held Anderson to just 33 percent shooting from the field in the second half, and held a 46 to 45 percent field goal shooting edge in the game. Anderson edged the Mount on the boards, 28-26 and committed 15 turnovers to the Lions' 18 miscues. The Mount was five-of-eight from the free throw line to Anderson's 21-of-31 from the charity stripe in the game.
The Mount honored senior players Clifford Cass (Cincinnati, OH/Mt. Healthy) and David Lane (Hamilton, OH/Ross) before the game. Cass finished with four points, three rebounds and three assists against Anderson, while Lane had a team-high 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals. David Mann (Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati Christian) added 13 points and six rebounds while teammate Andy Countryman (Peebles, OH/Peebles) had 11 points.
