The Mount St. Joseph University women's volleyball team got off to a victorius 2014 HCAC start on Saturday afternoon at home, posting a 3-1 win over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Mount, 9-10 overall, 1-0 in the conference, will return to action on Sept. 30 when they host non-conference opponent Berea College.
The Lions won by scores of 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, and 25-19 to take the win over the Fightin' Engineers. The Mount had four players record double-figure kill totals, with Cheyenne Tobler (Verona, KY/St. Henry) and Jessica Wilgenbusch (Sunman, IN/East Central) leading the way with 13 kills each. Wilgenbusch and teammate Hannah Losey (Tipp City, OH/Tippencanoe) had 18 digs each, while Taylor Ruder (Oxford, OH/Talawanda) helped lead the defense with 19 digs. Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) chipped in 42 assists in the victory.
