THE BASICS
Mount St. Joseph University (6-6-1, 0-3-1 HCAC) fell to Hanover College (8-6-0, 4-0-0 HCAC) 3-1, after giving up a hat trick to the Panthers' Enrico Franchini.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions started out slow, giving up two goals in the first half. The second goal of the game came off a penalty kick that was awarded to the Panthers after an MSJ foul in the box as two players pursued a ball in the air in the 29th minute. Mount St. Joseph was called for 21 fouls on the night, and also accumulated four yellow cards.
The Lions came out fighting in the second half where they scored a goal in the 68th when Trey Crone put the ball in the net after Cody Hacker fired a ball towards the goal, allowing the goalie to knock the ball down. Zachary Needom received the deflection with the goalie fighting for the ball around his ankles. Needom got the ball away, and passed the ball to Crone who had an open shot on goal.
In the 81st minute of the game the Panthers scored the team's third and final goal, sealing the victory for Hanover. The Lions outshot Hanover 12-10
STANDOUTS
Tyler Schumann had three shots on goal, all of which were headers. Colton Lipps, who only missed 10 minutes of the game due to an injury, had two shots on the night with one of them being on target. Crone had the most on target shots with two coming from his three total shots.
