Volleyball suffers 3-1 home setback to Manchester

THE BASICS:
A hot start wasn't enough as the Lions (9-16, 2-3 HCAC) fell in four sets to Manchester University (8-14, 3-4 HCAC) by a score of 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A match-high 20 kills from Jessica Wilgenbusch wasn't enought for the Lions, who jumped on Manchester early holding the opponent to a .103 attacking percentage in the first set. A 17-kill performance by Courtney Chowning led the way for the Spartans. Fifteen service errors doomed the Lions in the match.

STANDOUTS
Wilgenbusch hit .300 in the match making only five errors on 50 attempts. Emily Bostian and Hannah Losey added 10 kills each. Bostian tossed in three solo blocks and two block assists while Kama Charles had 18 digs. Lynsee Spatz had a season-high 40 assists.

UP NEXT
The Lions travel to Transylvania University (14-5, 4-1 HCAC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
