Box Score

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH (Schueler Field)

THE BASICS
Mount St. Joseph University (10-5-2, 5-2-1 HCAC) defeated Bluffton University (7-10, 3-5 HCAC) 1-0. The locks up third place in the HCAC with one match remaining. The top four teams earn a postseason berth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rain poured down on Schueler Field the whole game, making play difficult. Mount St. Joseph dominated possession of the ball throughout the whole game, most of which was played in the middle of the field.

The Lions capitalized on a scoring opportunity in the 67th minute, when the ball came to Jasmine Cahill at the top of the key. Cahill sent a cross over her opponent and pushed the ball passed her to an open Kaylan Gruber. Gruber took a few dribbles and fired it past the goalkeeper.

The Lions held off the Beavers for the rest of the game. MSJ outshot Bluffton 18-4, with 12 on target.

SENIOR STANDOUTS
Mackenzie Money played 89 minutes where she had one shot that was on target.
Morgan Froehlke played the entire 90 minutes.
Lexie Froehlke finished with two shots and one being on target.
Kayla Eiben had the most shots of the four seniors with three, two being on target.

Quotable
"It was a great night and a tough night for us. Bluffton didn't give an inch and we were dealing with a  lot of emotion with it being Senior night," said head coach Josh Hess. "I think that tonight the girls helped me out with their attitude and commitment. Inside I was so nervous because I knew what a win could mean, but they just kept playing and dealt with some of yelling and over-coaching tonight. They should be so proud of themselves for their work this season."
