THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph University dominated Earlham College 58-27 on a blustery and cold evening to move the team's overall record to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions jumped all over the Quakers scoring 28 points in first seven minutes of the first quarter.
The defense opened the scoring on the game's first possession when Tyler Robinson scooped up an Earlham fumble following a sack and rumbled 18 yards for a touchdown just 1:09 into the game. After a defensive stand the Mount struck again when Charles McCall ran 45 yards for a touchdown giving Lions a 14 point lead in the games first three minutes.
The onslaught didn't stop as the Lions jumped out to a 35-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game. MSJ never trailed in the game.
STANDOUTS
McCall racked up 162 yards and two touchdowns on just four attempts for a 30-yard average. Freshman wide receive Garrett Weaver continued his assault on opponents with two touchdowns on three catches for a 26-yard average. Tyler Hannah led the Lion defense in tackles with six followed by five for Kevin McHale.
