THE BASICS
Mount St. Joseph University (7-9-2, 1-6-2 HCAC) tied Manchester University (4-8-6, 1-4-4 HCAC) 2-2 after two overtimes in the last match of the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions struck first when they got a good opportunity for an early goal as Trey Crone was fouled in the box. Mount St. Joseph was awarded a penalty kick, which Crone went on to take. He fired it to the left side with the goalie also guessing that side. Crone put enough power behind it to force it right by him.
Shortly after the Spartans answered back with two goals to put them out in front.
In the second half, the rain started to fall. Emotions started to get high in the game, with 31 total fouls being committed between the teams, and six total yellow cards. All cards came in the second half.
In the 63rd minute the Lions tied the game when an Alex Gross throw in led to a Seth Freppon goal right inside the box.
The game could not be decided in two overtime periods.
The Lions outshot the Spartans 25-5, with Manchester only having two shots on target, both ended in goals.
STANDOUTS:
