Women's soccer moves to 5-0 with win at Berea

Box Score

The Lion's women's soccer team continued its hot start to the 2015 season with a 1-0 victory at Berea College on Wednesday night.

The win gives the team a perfect 5-0 start. Head coach Josh Hess said the team had received votes for a spot in the region's top 10 ranking prior to the match.

Sophomore Megan Grubb (Norwood, OH/Norwood) assisted freshman Kaylan Gruber (Harrison, OH/Harrison) for the game's only goal at the 56 minute mark in the second half. It was Gruber's third goal of the season and eighth point.

The Lions out-shot Berea 16-4 with five of those shots coming from Grubb. Goalkeeper Michelle Hessling (Hamilton, OH/Badin) had three saves in the match to get the winning decision.

The Lions return home for a 7 p.m. matchup Friday against Spalding University at the Mount Athletic Complex.
