Box Score Womenâs soccer lost 4-0 to Centre College on Sunday, giving the Lions its first loss of the season. Centre, ranked No. 10 nationally, advances to 7-1 on the season and has allowed five goals in those eight games. The Lions drop to 5-1-1.
Centre outshot the Lions 21-3, with 10 being on target. Morgan Knasel (Sidney, OH/Sidney) was one of the Mount players who had a shot on goal and the only one on target in the 54th minute.
The Mount only had one corner on the day. Lindsey Sturwold (Sidney, OH/Sidney) came off the bench to start the second half in goal where she accumulated two saves and gave up no goals.
"I thought Centre was a good side, well coached, good technical players and clearly organized and played a nice style of soccer. Centre carried the game for long stretchâs and put much more pressure on our goal then we were able to put on theirs," said Lions head coach Josh Hess. "Having said all that I felt like we could have made them work harder for their first 2 goals. It was a great learning experience for us and I was able to play almost the entire squad for long stretchâs of both halves of the game. I hope that we are to take some of the things we saw today and improve on them as we get closer to our conference schedule."
