Women's volleyball splits matches to open weekend event

The Mount St. Joseph University women’s volleyball team trounced Capital University before being swept by Muskingum at the HCAC/OAC Challenge in New Concord, Ohio.

Jessica Wilgenbusch (Sunman, IN/East Central) led all players in kills with 11 in the match against Capital. He had just one error on 23 attempts, hitting .435 in the match. Emily Bostian (Liberty Township, OH/Lakota East) added three block assists and two solo blocks for the match. The Lions had five aces in the match.

The Lions took the match by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

In the second match host Muskingum didn’t allow the Lions’ offense to get going in a three set loss. The Lions hit just .037. The Muskingum serve was the difference recording eight aces and just three errors. Bostian led the Lions in kills with five and did not make an error.

The Mount continues play Saturday with matches against Ohio Northern University and Baldwin Wallace University.
