THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph (5-4-1) went to battle against Anderson (5-2-2) on Saturday afternoon in a battle between HCAC rivals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions displayed phenomenal defense in the first half, holding their opponents scoreless. They also displayed a strong offensive attack, spending the majority of the half on the Anderson side of the field. In the first 45 minutes of play, the Lions managed to get 10 shots off, even though they did not net a goal.
The second half featured more ferocious defense by the Lions, as well as a goal by Morgan Knasel, giving Mount St. Joseph a 1-0 lead. The Lions would play out the remainder of the game by playing perfect defense, shutting out their opponents, and winning the match 1-0.
STANDOUTS:
Taylor Murphy played an outstanding game on the defensive side of the ball. She forced a turnover seemingly every time she came into contact with an Anderson player. Her hustle and intensity were unmatched by anybody on the field and she was a constant spark for the Lions for all 90 minutes.
UP NEXT:
Mount St. Joseph plays Transylvania in their second HCAC match on Wednesday. The match will take place at Schueler Field, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
