THE BASICS:
The Lions (5-4, 5-2 HCAC) hosted the Franklin Grizzlies (6-2, 5-1 HCAC) on senior night. The grizzlies were able to leave with a win as they defeat the Lions 56-24.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game started off with the introduction of the seniors for the Mount St. Joseph Lions as they were escorted onto the field by their family members. The seniors for the Lions were Mike Williams, Casey Cox, Tyler White, Zach Dickman, Ronnell Colbert, Zainn Ison, , and Colan Beare. Along with equipment manager Elliot Hidy the seniors were recognized for their accomplishments on and and off the field.
The Lions looked to set the tone early in the game. An impressive field goal by Jerry Porter for the lions from 48 yards out was able to give them the first points of the contest. The Grizzlies were able to answer the Lions by scoring a touchdown on a 3 yard run to give them the lead 7-3. As the first quarter came to an end the Lions were able to put some more points on the board. A 9 yard pass from Chaiten Tomlin to A.J. Glines was able to push the Lions in front with a score of 10-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Starting the second quarter the battle continued between the two teams as the score stayed close. Franklin was able to score two touchdowns in the second quarter through the air to give them the lead going into halftime 21-10.
Coming out of half time the Lions fought to regain the lead. Chaiten Tomlin was able to connect on two touchdown passes to Garrett Weaver in the beginning stages of the third quarter. This gave the Lions the lead 24-21. Then Franklin began to take over the game. Franklin scored on a deep bomb for a 49 yard touchdown to regain the lead 28-24 and they did not look back. They were able to stall the Lions offensive drive and score another touchdown through the air making their lead 35-24. The Grizzlies then were able to get an interception off of Tomlin and return it all the way for another touchdown to increase the deficit. At the end of the third the score was 42-24.
The fourth quarter was well played by the Grizzlies. They were able to hold the Lions to no scoring and were able to put up two more touchdowns running the ball. Franklin defeated the Lions 56-24.
STANDOUTS:
Chaiten Tomlin played well throwing for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns with 2 interceptions while Garrett Weaver led the team in receiving with 85 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Lions will travel to Defiance for another HCAC matchup on Saturday 11/5 as they look to finish strong in the regular season.
