Box Score LOCATION: Matlack Field (Richmond, Indiana)
THE BASICS:
The Lions traveled to Indiana to take on the Quakers of Earlham on Saturday. After a quick strike by Mount St. Joseph and another game of stellar defense, the Lions were able to come away with another conference victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saturday's match against Earlham featured two great defenses locked in a titanic struggle. In a match in which shots were hard to come by, Teddy Kerr was able to find the back of the net in the 16th minute, lifting the Lions to a 1-0 advantage. When the horn went off for halftime the Lions still held their lead and looked poised to continue their defensive domination in the second half.
The Lion defense in the second half was even better than in the first half. In the second 45 minutes Mount St. Joseph allowed only one shot, holding the Quakers scoreless again. The Lions controlled the ball for the vast majority of the half and limited any chances for Earlham to climb their way back into the match.
STANDOUTS:
Teddy Kerr was able to score the only goal of the game for either side in an unassisted effort, knifing through the Quaker defense and striking the ball into the back of the net.
UP NEXT:
The Lions will be back at home on Wednesday against Bluffton. The Lions will look to remain unbeaten in conference with kickoff coming at 7:00 PM at Schueler Field.
