THE BASICS: (9/9/16) On Friday night the Lions scored the last two goals of regulation to put the road game vs. friendly-rival Wilmington College into two overtimes resulting in their second road game tie in the last three days.
HOW IT HAPPENED: MSJ found themselves down a goal when WC's Noah Wallis scored just before half time in the 42nd minute. It wouldn't take the Quakers long to net their second goal just seven minutes into the second half.
MSJ rallied behind Teddy Kerr's unassisted goal in the 74th minute putting the Lions down one with 16 minutes to play in regulation. They needed a big play and got one when Teddy Kerr assisted MSJ's Brycen Evans to score the tying goal just before time ran out - sending the match into overtime. The two teams would grind out two overtime periods but neither team could capitalize ending the game in a 2-2 tie, the second double overtime tie for MSJ in a row.
THE STANDOUTS: MSJ's Teddy Kerr grabbed an assist and netted another goal bringing his team-leading total to seven goals on the young season. Brycen Evans scored his first goals of the season and avoided the loss the Lions scoring the game tying goal just before regualtion ran out. Conner Spivey reeled in three saves on five shots on goal.
NEXT UP: MSJ will lace up the cleats again today for the second day of the Wilmington College Tournament against Ohio Athletic Conference foe Ohio Northern. The match begins at 5pm.
