THE BASICS: The Lions move to 4-1-2 on the season with a 2-0 shutout win against Spalding University on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first half was a defensive battle with each team getting limited opportunity at the goal. Both teams finished the half with only three shots. It took just over thirty minutes for MSJ's Teddy Kerr, off a Cody Hacker assist, to net the only goal of the half.
With a 1-0 lead, the Lions would need a spark to give them a confortable lead. They got it from Tyler Schumann when scored an unassisted goal in the 67th minute to put the score at 2-0 where the game would end.
THE STANDOUTS: Teddy Kerr scored is team-leading 8th goal of the season. Tyler Schumann scored his 2nd of the year. Will Schwing got the start at goal finishing with three saves.
