Lions knock off previously unbeaten Spalding

LOCATION:  Woehrle Athletic Complex (Jeffersonville, Kentucky)

THE BASICS:  

Mount St. Joseph (3-2-1) faced off against Spalding (5-1-1) on Friday night and was able to hand the Golden Eagles their first loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

The Lions came out of the gates displaying great defense, allowing zero goals in the first half of play.  Their offense was also held scoreless in the first half.  However, after the second half kickoff, Mount St. Joseph exploded on offense.  The Lions were able to net three goals in the second half without surrendering a single goal to Spalding, and taking the game by a final score of 3-0.

STANDOUTS:

Kaylan Gruber, Jasmine Cahill, and April Zeiger all scored goals on Friday as a result of a potent second-half offense.

UP NEXT:

Mount St. Joseph will face off with Blackburn on Sunday at Scheuler Field.  The match is set to kickoff at 3 PM.
