THE BASICS:
MSJ (8-4) finished 1-1 in the day one of the OAC/HCAC Crossover winning their second match of the day versus Capital University (4-11), 3-2. The Lions dropped the first match against Ohio Northern University (11-3) 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
MSJ started the match versus Capital playing well, beating the Crusaders by six in the first set to take the lead. CU would battle back to squeek past MSJ in the second set, 27-25. MSJ would take back the lead to put the match at 2-1, only to give set four back to Capital tying the match and taking it to a deciding fifth set. The Lions would dominate the final set beating CU 15-7 to take the match 3-2.
The Lions had a balenced scoring attack finishing the match with three players collecting double-figure kills. Riley Brunner led MSJ with 16 kills on .318 hitting percntage. Jessica Wilgenbusch would be close behind finishing with 15 kills, while Cailey Clemmons finished with 11 kills. Kama Charles led MSJ with 14 digs, defensively. Riley Brunner and Lynsee Spatz both finished with 12 digs in the win.
In the first match of the day, the Lions struggled to get going offensively against ONU dropping the three-set loss with scores of 25-8, 25-13, 25-13.
