Lions second half comeback falls just short

LOCATION:  Schueler Field (Cincinnati, Ohio)

THE BASICS:  

Mount St. Joseph (4-4-1) squared off against Otterbein (5-1-1) on Sunday afternoon and dropped a closely contested match 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

The Lions cracked the scoreboard first, scoring a goal off the foot of Stefanie Autenrieb to give Mount St. Joseph the early lead.  After two goals by Otterbein late in the first half, Mount St. Joseph went into halftime trailing 2-1.

After an Otterbein goal early in second half, the Lions trailed by two goals with time running out.  Stefanie Autenrieb added her second goal of the contest late in the second half to bring the Lions within one.  Mount St. Joseph had a few more runs deep into the Otterbein defense in the last 10 minutes of the game, but came away with nothing, losing the match by a score of 3-2.

STANDOUTS:

Stefanie Autenrieb was the only Lion to score on Sunday, sparking the bulk of the Mount St. Joseph attack.

UP NEXT:

Mount St. Joseph opens up conference play on Saturday against Anderson at Schueler Field.  Kickoff will be at 1:00 PM.
