Mount St. Joseph women's volleyball splits matches to close Raven Invitational

LOCATION:  Kardatzke Center (Anderson, Indiana)

THE BASICS:  

The Mount St. Joseph Lions (2-2) squared off against Waynesburg in their first match of the day, taking the match with a convincing 3-0 win in straight sets.  The Lions second match went down to the wire before they eventually lost in 5 sets to Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

Jessica Wilgenbusch led the charge for the second straight day for the Lions.  She collected 12 kills in the first match while Hannah Losey chipped in 9 kills of her own.  Kama Charles was a defensive force for MSJ as she tallied 17 digs, 12 more than the next closest Lion.

The match against Olivet featured a much more balanced attack from the Lions.  Three different Lions boasted double-digits in the kills column, while another four Lions were able to register double-digit totals in digs.

STANDOUTS:

Brianna Looney was the only Lion who was named to the Raven Invitational All-Tournament Team.  She finished the tournament with 33 kills to help the Lions earn 2 wins over the weekend.

UP NEXT:  

MSJ will travel to Spalding University on Wednesday and look to fight their way to a winning record.  The Lions will take on the Golden Eagles of Spalding at 7 pm.
