Lions unable to come out with win at Transylvania

THE BASICS:

The Lions looked to improve their conference record as they traveled to Transylvania University. Unable to find a rhythm during the match, the Lions found themselves at deficits early. The Mount would battle, but Transylvania would take the match, 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Lions got off to a slow start as Transylvania earned a quick lead. Unable to find their offense, the Lions continued to struggle for most of the set. Transy capitalized on The Mount's errors to take the first set, 25-16. The Lions picked up their play in the second set to give Transy a run for its money. The two teams battled back and forth for position, but neither team could pull away. The Lions kept the score close until Transy scored six unanswered points to take the second set, 25-18. In the final set, the Lions continued to push Transy, looking to extend the match. The Mount struggled to find its offense but managed to keep the match close. Transy was able to go on a run, but the Lions quickly found their way back into the match. The Lions wouldn't let up, going down to the final points, but errors by The Mount in pivotal plays led to Transy winning the final set, 25-20.

THE STANDOUTS:

Hannah Losey (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe) continues to lead the Lions' offense, earning nine kills and two blocks. Riley Brunner (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg) controlled the defense by grabbing 14 digs.

UP NEXT:

The Lions (13-11, 3-4) close out their regular season with an away match at Franklin College (10-13, 0-7) on Saturday, 10/28.
