Lions keep a close match against some tough competition

Box Score

CINCINNATI: Lions would come into Wednesday's night game riding a hot streak of pretty exciting volleyball. They would take on a team they had never faced anything like before this was an athletic tall team facing a smaller scrappier Mount team. The Lions would stuggle, but would keep it close and fight every single set. The Lions were without Makayla Chambers for wednesday's game. They struggled as they were trying to just rely on their strong back row of Riley Gintert and Brooklyn Brunner and offense from Karlie Schell  and Brooke Aselage

Throughout the game the Lions would keep the most important stat lines a close match only being out dug by seven digs, the team leaders would consist of Aselage and Brunner. The lions would trail the ace column by only 3 service aces with Brunner having 3 out of the four aces two of which came back to back in set 2. Where the lions would hurt the most would be in the atttacking column as they hit as a team -.011 hitting percentage. The numbers may show a lion's team struggling to find any offense but they were able to keep each and every set close by at least 5 points or less. They never gave up on a set and passed when it matter the most. This team shows a lot of heart and being an underdog ever since the start of the season they have continually shown a passion and a motivation to prove the people who counted them out wrong. The lions would lose set 1 25-20 in an early shock for most fans. Set 2 the lions would show the fire that they did early on in the season only losing the second by 3 (25-22). Set 3 would be promising as the game would be a three point defcit in the late game but the Battling Bishops would go on a 3 point run then it would be trading of side out points and Ohio Wesleyan would finish off the game.

The Lions will go up north to Michigan to attend a tri-match against Albion and Olivet on Friday. Then will come home on Tuesday the 24th of September to face Wilmington College as they look to bounce back and look to defend their home court.
