Esports Opens Rocket League Play with a Split

Cincinnati, OH – The MSJ Esports team kicked off their Rocket League season this past Tuesday. Team One kicked off their season with a win by forfeit against Edinboro University, but then showed that they still have it with a 3-1 win over Lebanon Valley College. Team Two looked strong in their first match, but couldn't quite finish with a 1-3 loss against Muskingum University. The second match of the night didn't prove any more favorable with a 0-3 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Team One:

  • Edinboro University withdrew from NACE Competition, therefore giving them the Win.
  • MSJ Team One would start Evan Miller (Sophomore), Jackson Dalton (Sophomore), and Cole Mericle (Sophomore).
  • Lebanon Valley College (LVC) took game 1 after going into OT. Tied 2-2 at the end of the 5-minute regulation, they took game 1 with a goal in OT.
  • MSJ took the next 2 games with convincing wins, going 3-1 and 3-0.
  • Game 4 resulted in a 2-2 tie, sending us back into OT. OT would last 5 minutes, ending by Cole Mericle getting a shot on net and Evan Miller finishing it off to net MSJ their first true win in the NACE Season.

Team Two:

  • MSJ Team Two would start Jason "Tyler" Stevens (Sophomore), Alex Shackelford (Freshman), and Will Barger (Sophomore).
  • Match One would start MSJ off with a win, winning off goals by Alex Shackelford and Tyler Stevens. Game 1 was a confident booster showing that the second team can hang with other teams.
  • Game 2 would be a wakeup call losing 5-1, off of 5 goals scored by "Baanqs" on Muskingum University.
  • Game 3 and 4 would also result in losses for MSJ. Game 4 went into OT off of a last second goal by Tyler Stevens, but it wasn't enough as MSJ would lose the match 2-3.
  • Next matchup would be against Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE)
  • MSOE is coming in as favorites for the group and they showed a great performance, beating MSJ 0-3.
