Box Score DEFIANCE, Ohio - On Wednesday, October 20th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Defiance College to take on the Yellow Jackets in a HCAC battle. The Lions got on the board early scoring twice in the first 6 minutes of play. Their momentum did not stop there scoring three more times in the first half to secure the 5-0 victory.Â
The Lions did not waste much time getting on the scoreboard scoring in just the 4th minute of play.
Mckenzie Schneeman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Deer Park) scored again for the Lions, netting her 8th goal of the season and her 3rd straight game with a goal. Schneeman received a beautiful pass from
Catherine Hatfield (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) and finessed a shot into the top left corner of the goal giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.Â
Just 2 minutes later the Lions found the net again. This time it was
Julia Herzog (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) off a cross from
Poetrie Bedgood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley). Bedgood whipped a ball into the box from the right wing and Herzog then volleyed the ball over the goalkeeper's head to give the Lions an early 2-0 lead.Â
After the second goal the Lions continued to control the match. In the 30th minute of play the Lions would increase their lead again.
Ella Pittman (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) would send a perfect through ball right to the foot of
Kerigan Pollard (Greenfield, Ohio/McClain) who would sneak the ball just past the goalkeeper for her first career goal extending the Lions lead to 3-0.Â
The Lions weren't done yet however, scoring again in the 38th minute.
Haley Trittschuh (Dayton, Ohio/Butler) would gain control of the ball on the right wing and take it all the way to the box. Once in the box Trittschuh made a move and tucked the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net giving the Lions a 4-0 advantage.Â
Just before the half the Lions would net their fifth goal of the contest, all from different players.
Mariah Briggs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) added her name to the stat sheet in the 44th minute of play. Briggs took control of the ball in the box and powered a shot through the goalkeeper's gloves for a goal.Â
The Lions did not score if the second half but didn't need to coming away with a 5-0 victory. The Lions defense was spectacular for the entire contest only allowing 3 shots, 2 on target.
Madison Hart (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) recorded her 4th straight shutout victory moving her record to 5-4 on the year. Five different Lions scored in the contest en route to a  victory extending their unbeaten streak to 7 games.Â
