Lions Stay Unbeaten in HCAC play with a Shutout win over Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - On Saturday, October 23rd your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Earlham College to take on the Quakers in a HCAC matchup. The Lions entered the contest on a 3-game win streak showing a record of 6-0-1 in HCAC play. The Lions defense was the difference maker in the match not allowing a single shot the entire game. The Lions were able to compliment their defense with a pair of goals including one from Mckenzie Schneeman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Deer Park) who scored in her 4th straight game as the Mount defeated Earlham 2-0.

The Lions were able to take control of the game early due to their spectacular defense. Poetrie Bedgood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) was the first to strike for the Lions in the 24th minute of play giving the Lions a 1-0 advantage. Following the goals the Lions continued to flood the net with shots but could not find the net. In the first half the Lions tallied 10 shots, 6 on target and 1 goal.

Heading into the second half the LIons held on the momentum and continued to control the pace of the game. The Lions opened up the second half pushing the ball into Earlham's defense mustering 2 shots and 3 corner kicks with nothing to show for it. But, it wasn't long until the Lions would strike again. In the 61st minute of play Mckenzie Schneeman found the net for the 9th time this season and has scored in the last 4 games giving the Lions a 2-0 cushion in the second half.

Following the goal the Lions continued to do what they do best, play fantastic defense. After not allowing any shot for the entire game, the LIons would finish the game ahead 2-0 to secure the win. The Lions were dominant totaling 26 shots, 16 on target, to improve their record to 10-7-1 on the year and 7-0-1 in HCAC play. Goalkeeper Madison Hart (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) had an easy day in the net as she was never called upon to save a shot moving her to 6-4 on the season recording her 5th straight shutout.
