Richmond, Indiana—On Saturday, October 2 the Mount St. Joseph University Women's Volleyball program traveled to Earlham College. This game was neck and neck, but saw the Lions drop an HCAC match in five sets.
Set one saw the Lions fall 29-27, in a tightly contested set. Set number two went much better for the Lions being able to come away with a 26-24 set win. Winning set two, returned some momentum to the Lions as they were able to capture the third set 27-25.
Holding a two sets to one lead over Earlham the Lions were unable to hold onto set four, again, tightly contested set 27-25. With everything on the line for the Mount, they were unable to get the win in a very competitive 15-13 loss, during set five.
Despite the Lions dropping this game, they had several standout performances. Brooke Aselage was all over the court, leading the team in kills with 20, while also registering 17 digs. Also on the attack for the Lions was the pair of Emily Abshire and Morgan Whitaker. Abshire finished the game with 20 kills while hitting .313, while Whitaker added 15 kills for the Lions.
All around the Lions efforts were impressive, despite dropping the match. The Mount will return to action on Wednesday, October 6, when the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman travel to the Harrington Center. This game is set to start at 7PM.
